Driven by his interest in both watches and entrepreneurship, Gebauer set out to create a brand of his own. After contacting several manufacturers, he chose a Japanese company that is now preparing samples expected to arrive later this summer. He plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign this fall to raise enough funding for an initial production run of 300 watches in late November or December, with delivery expected in early 2027. Gebauer also became the youngest person ever accepted into the Routt County Economic Development Partnership’s High Country Accelerator program. He completed the program by presenting at the Boat Launch Celebration on June 12 at the Steamboat Social Club. Twenty-four startups applied for this year’s spring session, which was hosted by RCEDP and ran from April through June. RCEDP Executive Director John Bristol said the application process was competitive and that Gebauer ranked among the top applicants.     [Read The Full Article](https://www.steamboatpilot.com/news/steamboat-springs-new-watch-business-high-school-student/) ## Recommended For You [![](https://rcedp.org/hubfs/20221007_145031.jpg)](https://rcedp.org/news/cu-boulder-partners) 1 Min Read ### [CU Boulder partners with state to support coal transition economic resilience strategies](https://rcedp.org/news/cu-boulder-partners) [![Picture of CU Boulder Today](https://rcedp.org/hubfs/athletics%20interlocking%20CU.avif) CU Boulder Today February 18, 2026 at 7:00 PM](https://rcedp.org/news/author/cu-boulder-today) [![](https://rcedp.org/hubfs/BigAgnes1_082321.jpg)](https://rcedp.org/news/big-agnes-started-by-sketching-plans-on-beer-stained-napkins.-20-years-later-the-gear-company-is-a-local-hero) 1 Min Read ### [Big Agnes started by sketching plans on beer-stained napkins. 20 years later, the gear company is a local hero.](https://rcedp.org/news/big-agnes-started-by-sketching-plans-on-beer-stained-napkins.-20-years-later-the-gear-company-is-a-local-hero) [![Picture of Colorado Sun](https://rcedp.org/hubfs/CO%20Sun.png) Colorado Sun August 31, 2021 at 5:14 PM](https://rcedp.org/news/author/colorado-sun) [![](https://rcedp.org/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-03-31%209.27.01%20PM.png)](https://rcedp.org/news/steamboat-based-startup-colter-backcountry-approved-for-state-program-supporting-rural-job-growth) 1 Min Read ### [Steamboat-based startup Colter Backcountry approved for state program supporting rural job growth](https://rcedp.org/news/steamboat-based-startup-colter-backcountry-approved-for-state-program-supporting-rural-job-growth) [![Picture of Steamboat Pilot & Today](https://rcedp.org/hubfs/P%26T%20Logo.jpg) Steamboat Pilot & Today March 31, 2026 at 9:27 PM](https://rcedp.org/news/author/steamboat-pilot-today) #### Stay Connected Get the latest local business resources and stay informed about long-term economic sustainability initiatives. --- ![logo-white](https://rcedp.org/hubfs/logo-white.png) Routt County, Colorado +1 (970) 717-0721 [info@rcedp.org](mailto:info@rcedp.org) [Follow us on Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/RCEDP) [Follow us on LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/company/routt-county-economic-development-partnership/) [Follow us on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/rc_edp/) [Follow us on Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/user/31yb7rxgbioad423hr67hisepumu?si=1c120763ec024429) - [Events](https://lu.ma/rcedp) - [Entrepreneurship](https://rcedp.org/entrepreneurship-center) - [Business Support](https://rcedp.org/business-retention-expansion) - [Key Industries](https://rcedp.org/key-industries) - [Yampa Valley](https://rcedp.org/overview) - [Data](https://rcedp.org/data/communities) - [News](https://rcedp.org/news) - [About Us](https://rcedp.org/partnership) - [Donate](https://www.coloradogives.org/organization/Routt-County-Economic-Development-Partnership) Copyright © 2024 Routt County Economic Development Partnership [Privacy Policy](https://rcedp.org/privacypolicy) | [Terms and Conditions](https://rcedp.org/termsandconditions) ```json { "@context" : "https://schema.org", "@type" : "BlogPosting", "author" : { "@type" : "Person", "name" : "Steamboat Pilot & Today", "url" : "https://rcedp.org/news/author/steamboat-pilot-today" }, "dateModified" : "2026-06-23T13:00:02.961Z", "datePublished" : "2026-06-23T13:00:02.000Z", "headline" : "Steamboat high school student launches watch startup", "image" : [ "https://rcedp.org/hubfs/Liam-1.jpeg" ], "mainEntityOfPage" : { "@id" : "https://rcedp.org/news/steamboat-high-school-student-launches-watch-startup", "@type" : "WebPage" }, "publisher" : { "@type" : "Organization", "logo" : { "@type" : "ImageObject", "url" : "https://rcedp.org/hubfs/RCEDP-logo-color.png" }, "name" : "Routt County Economic Development Partnership" } } ```
